Newton Electric was featured recently on WickedLocal.com for reaching a landmark 50 years in business.
The business was started in 1965 by Adrian “Nino” Colasacco, a recent immigrant from Capestrano, a small town in central Italy. He spoke no English, so he was placed in the electrical program at Newton North.
“We had just gotten married and my husband was an electrician and he wanted to expand his business,” his wife, Dora, said. “We moved to Upper Falls and he was looking for a property to build. We were always in it together.”
Newton Electrical Supply sells its products online, but the Colasaccos said that what helps their brick and mortar showroom continue to flourish is the high-quality merchandise, the family atmosphere and high level of customer service.
